Anyone else see something wrong with this picture?

My niece is seven today. SEVEN. How did this happen? It doesn’t make any sense.

Just a second ago, she was a little chubby nugget. Now she talks in full sentences. She giggles! She can hold a conversation with me on the phone (as opposed to what she used to do which is gurgle and say nonsensical things that her mother would have to translate for me) and she’s so tall that it actually makes me a little sick to my stomach. SO TALL. STOP GETTING SO TALL.

My friend Sarah was here the other day (she has nieces too) and she shares my pain about their insistence on growing up, the little sneaks. “When did she turn into a kid?” she asked me, seeing a recent picture of Hannah. I honestly have no idea. I blame milk, food and sleep. And the Disney Channel.

About This Lady

I am a writer who has lived in DC, Los Angeles and Chicago. In the morning, I write novels. During the day, I write ads, brochures, websites and blogs. At night, I don't do any writing because that's too much writing.

Trying to be Auntie Mame but right now I feel more like Liz Lemon in execution. It's a process, people.

I have a food/fiction blog called Some Kitchen Stories.
